The 10th death anniversary of Barrister-at-Law Tissa Wijeyeratne, founder of Sinhaputhra Finance PLC, was commemorated at the Company Head Office. The event was marked with an eye donation drive to coincide with the beginning of the Esala Perehera in Kandy.
The eye donation drive has been a regular calendar event for Sinhaputhra, and it was viewed by the management to make this year’s drive with merit to its founder.

Former Diyawadena Nilame and leader of the Kandy Municipal Council opposition team, Neranjan Wijeyeratne graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. His remarks covered the life of the founder in brief and anecdotes of how the founder touched the life of the former Diywadena Nilame, who was his eldest nephew.
Directors Lal Ekanayake and Dr. Amal Karunaratne and Working Directors Saliya De Alwis (Director Operations) and Nandana Abeykoon (Director Finance) was present along with the senior cadre and Managing Director Ravana Wijeyeratne on this occasion.
Founder Tissa Wijeyeratne’s core philosophy ‘Small is Beautiful’ adopted from the award winning works of Economist E.H. Schumacher still frames the values of Sinhaputhra.
Sinhaputhra was one of the first Finance companies in the recent past to be listed in the Colombo Stock Exchange. Having doubled its profits from the previous year, Sinhaputhra holds on to the trust of over Rs. 3,500 million in public deposits and provides financial services from 10 locations.
