Two new Directors on People’s Merchant Finance Board

Sita V. Amarasekara and Neville C. Peiris have been appointed as Independent Non-Executive Directors on to the Board of Directors of People’s Merchant Finance Plc with effect from 20 August 2012.

Amarasekara is an Attorney-at-Law, Notary Public, and Commissioner for Oaths and Registered Company Secretary.
She is a partner of law firm Varners since April 2005. Previously she had served as Legal Consultant to the Ministry of FInance, Legal Consultant, Project Office for setting up an independent public debt management office at Ministry of Finance, Progressively Senior Associate and Partner F.J. & G. de Saram, Legal Executive Price and Price Solicitors, Norfolk UK, Mortgage Officer, Leeds Permanent Building Society, Kent, UK, and Head of Legal, HR and Company Secretarial matters at Cargills Ceylon Ltd.
Peiris is a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and currently serves as an Independent Director on the Board of Namunukula Plantations Plc and Hunter and Co Plc.
Among positions held in the past were Group Finance Director, Modandoa Group, Nigeria, Regional Financial Controller West Asia and Caribbean of Singer Co USA, and Finance Director Singer Sri Lanka Ltd. from February 1984 to March 2002.
