Participating in the prestigious ceremony for the third consecutive year, Jetwing Hotels was recognised for its tremendous efforts to bring about positive action for the environment through energy efficient initiatives in all their properties.

Jetwing Blue shone by picking up the Bronze award in the Large Hotel category. Formerly known as the Blue Oceanic Beach Hotel, the first in the Jetwing collection of properties, Jetwing Blue underwent a massive re-creation and was launched last year.
Designed and constructed to minimise use of limited resources, as well as reduce dependency on harmful ones, Jetwing Blue prides itself on features such as total lighting being through energy saving bulbs, hot water production through solar panels and a biomass boiler, along with reusing resources such as water, with waste water being chemically purified and used in the garden areas.
In the Medium Scale Hotel category, Jetwing Sea, Jetwing Vil Uyana and Jetwing St. Andrew’s received Awards of Merit, commending the dedication each property shows in the field of energy efficiency and sustainability. This year’s winner of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Gold Award for Corporate Environmental Program, Jetwing Sea was re-launched in January 2011, and as in the case of Jetwing Blue, has been constructed with the environment in mind.
Jetwing Vil Uyana needs no introduction; as its lofty status as the country’s finest eco-luxury resort is well earned. Set amidst a man-made wildlife preserve, and a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, Jetwing Vil Uyana strives for efficiency in all ways. Jetwing St. Andrew’s, set in the cool climes of Nuwara Eliya, famed for its history and colonial charm was another Jetwing property to receive an Award of Merit.
“Our focus on preserving and sustaining this land of ours has always been a priority” said Jetwing Chairman Hiran Cooray, who added “We are happy with our efforts, particularly of our Engineering Team and resident naturalists, for their dedication and hard work which has resulted in such recognition.”
Family owned and in the tourism industry for the past 39 years, Jetwing Hotels has surpassed expectation at every aspect. Building on their foundation of being passionate, as well as the experience of true, traditional Sri Lankan hospitality, constantly pioneering discoveries captures the essence of the brand. Such a strong statement and direction have enabled Jetwing Hotels to imagine, create and manage marvels and masterpieces, where distinctive design and elegant comfort complement each other and the environment. Considered a priority, sustainable and responsible practice is implemented through the award winning Jetwing Eternal Earth Program; with energy efficiency, community upliftment, and education of earth saving measures to schoolchildren being a few tenets of the Program.
