Duleep Mendis to coach Oman cricket team
Former Sri Lanka national skipper Duleep Mendis has been selected to coach the Oman Cricket team, a media repot said.
Mendis will coach the Oman national team for the forthcoming ACC Elite Trophy 2012 to be held in UAE from the 3rd of October.
His stint with the Oman team is only limited to the above mentioned tournament and he will return after the completion of the tournament.
It was under Duleep Mendis that Sri Lanka won the first test match way back in mid eighties.
He captained the side from 1982 to 1987 and also acted as the national team manager during the 1996 world cup where Sri Lanka became champions.
Mendis also headed the national cricket selection panel and also functioned as the CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket.
