SLC provides financial grants to provincial cricketing bodies
Sri Lanka Cricket has given financial grants for all the nine provinces in the country to develop cricket in those regions.
Seven out of nine provinces have received a grant of Rs. 1 million.
The grant was increased to Rs. 2.5 million for Uva province (Uva Next) as they won the SLPL while the Neganahira province (Neganahira Naga’s), who became the runners up was given Rs. 1.5 million.
The money was distributed by Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage during a special event held in Colombo, recently.
Furthermore, SLC has distributed cricket gear worth of Rs. 900,000 to 22 districts for the development of cricket.
All the nine provinces have also been given an administrative grant of Rs. 100,000 each.
“Sri Lanka Cricket hopes to transform the Sri Lankan Domestic cricketing outlook, from domestic level to International level” SLC President, Upali Dharmadasa has said during the event, while addressing the regional cricket administrators.
Franchise owners of the SLPL too have been present at the occasion.
