Mahela stars as Sri Lanka thrash West Indies
Mahela Jayawardene’s unbeaten 98 took Sri Lanka to a convincing 57-run win over West Indies, who fielded sloppily in this Super Eights game. Replying to Sri Lanka’s score of 195-3, West Indies could make just 138-8, thereby seriously affecting their chances of reaching the semi-finals. Jayawardene (98, 56b, 9x4, 4x6) and skipper Kumar Sangakkara added 167 for the second wicket --- a record in T20 World Cup --- surviving at least five missed catches, stumping and run-out chances. They narrowly missed out on breaking the T20I record of 170 by Graeme Smith and Loots Bosman. indiatoday.intoday.in/site/Story/96425/Sports/Mahela+stars+as+ Sri+Lanka+thrash+West+Indies.html
