Ranjan Madugalle scores a half a century in T20’s
Former Sri Lankan cricketer turned ICC match referee Ranjan Madugalle became the first match referee to complete a half a century of Twenty20 Internationals.
Madugalle achieved this, when he walked on to the field for the toss in the ICC World Twenty20 Sri Lanka 2012 match, played between Australia and West Indies on Saturday.
The former Sri Lankan skipper who is in the ICC Emirates Elite Panel of Match Referees played 21 test matches and 63 ODI’s for his country before calling it a day in 1988.
He made his debut as a match referee in Karachi when he officiated a match played between Pakistan and Zimbabwe in 1993.
Three weeks later Madugalle made his ODI match referee debut in a match played between the same two sides.
