George Steuart Health (GSH) has been appointed as the sole local agent for SPOLKINEMATICSby SPOL Sports Tape Korea. SPOL is the first Korean sports medical company specializing in sports taping therapeutics to ever be established, way back in 1999 and have since been developing the technology and education system on effective usage of taping the world over.

To mark the launch of the product into Sri Lanka, GSH donated the first stock of SPOL KINEMATICS TEX to the Institute of Sports Medicine at the Ministry of Sports in the presence of Prof. Arjuna De Silva, Director General of the Sports Medicine Unit, Ministry of Sports. Following the launch, the product will also be made available to the public through leading pharmacies, hospitals and physiotherapy centers to be marketed as an instant relief from neck pains, shoulder pains, lower back pains, wrist pains and leg and foot pains.
Prof. Arjuna explained, “The principle of taping theory is that no medicine or ointment is applied on the therapeutic tape as a dressing. It is an adhesive tape.”
Taping therapeutics is not based upon medicines to relieve the pain. Tape that has similar resilience as the human muscle draws out the natural reaction of the human body and this keeps the muscle from becoming excessively contracted, gently elevating the skin surface to promote circulation of the blood and lymph between the skin and muscle. Thisactivity results in spontaneous relief of pain, revives muscular function and enables normal physical activity. “This remedy is widely used even at global sporting arenas such as the Olympics, and having it available now in Sri Lanka is indeed a great support for Sports Medicine in the Country,” he added.
KINEMATICS TEX is the brand name of SPOL and is available in ten different colours. The stronger elasticity, the skin friendly adhesive and being resistant to water are the major features of the brand, which makes KINEMATICS TEX so distinctive in taping therapeutics.
“In our modern society many people are troubled with aches and pains. Many factors – including sports, work, wrong posture, and mental stress – are causing damage to muscles and joints,” said Erandajith Ranasinghe, Executive Director of George Steuart Health. “These aches and pains come in a wide variety of forms. Understanding this need, we are proud to partner SPOL KINEMATICS to bring to Sri Lanka another first in Sports Therapeutics. We intend to use this new taping therapy to further develop the technology along with the education system to popularize it even further.”
