Expolanka Group bags four awards at NCE awards

Expolanka Holdings PLC’s subsidiaries Expolanka (Pvt.) Limited, Expolanka Freight (EFL) and Hello Corp (Pvt.) Ltd walked away with top honours with two Gold, one Silver and a Merit Award at the National Chamber of Exporters Awards Ceremony for the Year 2011, held in Colombo.

Expolanka Limited, the pioneer exporter of Sri Lanka’s fresh fruits and vegetables starting in 1978, won the Gold Award in the ‘Extra Large Category for Value Added Agriculture – Coconut based Products’, and the ‘Most Outstanding Exporter Gold Award for Value Added Agriculture Exports’. Expolanka (Pvt.) Limited has a prominent presence in the markets of the Middle East, the Mediterranean, Africa, Australia, Europe, and the United Kingdom, and has continued to be Sri Lanka’s largest exporter for these produce, for the past several years.
Commenting on the award, Expolanka Limited CEO Mohamed Annam said, “We are honoured and privileged to receive this accolade. We have always been keen in developing the local industry and taking our products to the global market. This award is a testimony to our contribution and our efforts.”
EFL won the Silver Award in the ‘Extra- Large Service Provider Category’. Remarkably, EFL was the only company being recognised with an award in this category this year. It is noteworthy that EFL won Bronze in this category at the previous year’s awards. Launched 30 years ago, EFL is a prominent IATA agent in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and the USA. It commands a global footprint today with a 1200 + staff strength across 16 countries and 45 cities.  EFL CEO Jagath Pathirane said, “With very humble beginnings in the freight and logistics industry we are indeed proud today to be a local company which has spread its wings globally to as many as 16 countries. We have been able to thereby export our services and earn valuable foreign exchange in return. We are indeed proud to be the only company to be awarded in this category this year. This will no doubt motive us all to further continue our commitment to this industry.”
Hello Corp (Pvt.) Ltd. the first-ever BOI approved BPO company in Sri Lanka, was recognised for its pioneering efforts with the Merit Award in the ‘Export of Business and Professional Services – Small Category’. In operation since 2002, HelloCorp now manages the SriLankan® Airlines Global Contact Centre.
Speaking about the award HelloCorp CEO Ravi Raveendran said, “As one of the leading BPOs operating in Sri Lanka, we are pleased to have received this honour of recognition which will drive us to greater heights in the coming years.”
