Airtel Lanka paints trains and stations red

  • Commuters can now experience free wi-fi service in stations and train
  • Customer service kiosks in 15 train stations across the country
  • Seven branded trains steam across the whole of Sri Lanka

The next time you take a train ride be prepared to witness Airtel Lanka’s latest innovation in branding as it takes its vibrancy to an all new level on seven railway routes. Branded trains and customer service kiosks at railway stations are among the new sights at selected stations across the country with Airtel Lanka going full steam ahead in order to take the brand to its people.

‘Red and Hot’ Airtel branded trains now run on seven routes namely, Maradana – Matara, Fort – Vavuniya, Fort – Batticaloa, Fort – Badulla, Fort – Rambukkana, Fort – Avissawella and Chilaw – Fort.
In addition, 15 customer service kiosks have now been set up in stations across the country offering all services available at any Airtel store such as new connection activations, top-up facilities, purchase of products such as dongles, devises and special packages etc. Bill payments can also be made in these outlets, thus extending services to the masses at their convenience.
What’s more, in 10 stations and on all seven trains Airtel Lanka offers Wi-Fi services absolutely free of charge, livening up what is otherwise a dull and dreary train ride.
This is a special CSR initiative being carried out by Airtel Lanka to reach out to the masses, and the next stages to the project will see several more innovations being introduced.
Speaking about this latest project Head of Brands and Marketing Communications Charith de Chickera stated, “The Airtel brand identity is fresh, dynamic and inclusive – one that appeals to the young and those young at heart. We are constantly looking for new ways of being relevant to this target group – being alive to their needs and enriching their lives. Therefore through this project, we intend reaching out to the thousands of Sri Lankans who commute through this mass transport medium and hope that the services provided will get them closer to what they love.”
Airtel Lanka is no stranger to offering products and services that are innovative, affordable and relevant for customers in Sri Lanka such as the Magic Music Card, a first for Sri Lanka’s telecommunication industry and the My Airtel Service where customers can inform callers of their mood/status without having to answer the call.
With over 32 Airtel stores across the island, Airtel Lanka also operates three brand shops in Colombo, Kandy and Galle. Located in venues easily accessible to actual and potential customers, Airtel continues to enrich lives though an efficient customer service, economical and value for money product offerings and latest technology.
