Poland’s Ms. Agata Dziekn and her partner who arrived in Sri Lanka on Tuesday were surprised , as the local tourism officials presented them a free holiday package, marking the arrival of 950,000th tourist to the country during this year, a record figure in the  Island’s tourism history.

Accordingly, Ms. Agata Dziekn and her partner Krzysztof Kujawa, who arrived via the Poland Enter Airlines was presented with the free holiday package at the airport, so that  their next stay in Sri Lanka will be absolutely free.

Both have arrived in Sri Lanka to spend a 15 day holiday and is expected to travel to Pinnawala, Anuradhapura, Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa, Kandy and Southern beaches.

“After seeing the beauty of Sri Lanka via internet I decided to visit here to spend the holiday. I’m very happy to be the 950,000th tourist to visit Sri Lanka this year. I am really surprised by your warm welcome and the gifts”, Agata Dziekn, who is a Graphic Designer  by profession, has told the local tourism officials.

“Next year, I am planning to visit again to spend a magnificent holiday with my friends. Things like this really do help in promoting tourism in a country”, she has added.

Since the end of the conflict in 2009, Sri Lanka is experiencing a steady rise in its tourism arrivals.

During the month of November, 2012, the country has received 109,202 tourists; the highest number to turned up within a single month.
