Record revenue for southern expressway
Hundreds of thousands of people have visited the Colombo city from the south of the country generating a record revenue for the southern expressway.
Hundreds of thousands of people visited Colombo to view the Vesak decorations. The revenue from the southern expressway from 7.00am on the Poya day to 7.00am yesterday has reached 3.3 million. Eleven thousand three hundred vehicles have travelled on the southern expressway. It is the highest income so far collected by the expressway. Meanwhile the National Transport Commission has launched a special transport service in view of the Vesak week. Chairman of the National Transport Commission Roshan Gunawardena said that special bus services are being provided for outstations and the programme has been successful. He said that the services will be continued.
