A former Indian police officer, who was part of the special investigation team that probed the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case wants India to seek the extradition of  ex-LTTE leader Kumaran Padmanathan to India, a media report said.

He has filed a Public Interest Litigation in the Madras high court requesting it to direct the Center and the CBI to seek the extradition and interrogation of Pathmanathan.

Mohanraj has said KP was close to LTTE leaders and was the chief arms procurer for the outfit.

The court has issued notice to the union home ministry and the CIB, after hearing Mohanraj’s case.

The matter has been adjourned to August 5 for further proceedings.

Mohanraj wants KP to be brought to India to interrogate him in relation to the killing of Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

The Ex-Indian Police Officer describes KP as a ‘treasure trove of secrets’.

According to Mohanraj’s presentation, if KP is brought to India and questioned several cases including a Rs 1,336-crore Indian Bank scam case could be cracked.
