OVIKLO International Ltd. has become the Silver Winner in the Logistics and Transport sector at the National Business Excellence Awards (NBEW) 2017 at a ceremony held at the Hilton Colombo, recently.

In recognition of OVIKLO’s excellence in business and contributions towards the logistics sector in the country, the National Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka (NCCSL) has selected the OVIKLO as the Silver Winner for the fourth consecutive year from 2014 at its highly competitive competition-National Business Excellence Awards.

The company was acknowledged for its performances in corporate governance, capacity building, performance management, global and local market reach, corporate social responsibility, environmental sustainability and business and financial results.

“Winning the Silver Award under the Logistics and Transport sector at NBEA for four consecutive years from 2014 to 2017 is an encouragement to us. As a company we have performed well across all industry verticals in telecommunication, automobiles, FMCG, pharmaceutical, manufacturing and project cargo with inclusion of Value Added Services to our customers,” Business Development Director of OVIKLO Thushan Mahagedara said

He said that NBEA was an initiative to recognize excellence in the logistics and transport sector and good recognition could be helpful in putting potential clients at ease with their organization.

“The objective of these awards is to set a benchmark of excellence within the industry, give stature and recognition among the industry players, nationwide recognition leading to better business prospects and increase of company brand equity. The most important benefit we see is in employee morale,” he noted.

Head of Operations of OVIKLO Ruwan Wickramasinghe said that the company which was established in 2011 with a 40,000sq.ft. warehouse facility had served only a handful of customers but today, as an ISO-certified logistics company has over 300 local and multinational clientele and an expanded warehouse capacity of 400,000 sq.ft..

“Winning these prestigious awards has motivated us to serve more and provide better and quality facilities each year,” he said.

OVIKLO has recently setup a 70,000 sq.ft. state-of-the-art logistics hub in the close proximity of the Biyagama Export Processing Zone.

“We will put up another warehouse with the capacity of 100,000 sq.ft. in 2018. While building the capacity of our company, we maintain the core values of the OVIKLO’s objectives, which help us to invest a percentage from our revenue for the betterment of the society and environment,” Wickramasinghe said.

The NBEA, the flagship event of the NCCSL, is the annual competition, which evaluates the organization’s financial stability, reach in global markets, excellence in process innovation, capital investment, institutionalization of corporate social responsibility etc. and more.

The NCCSL organizes the prestigious NBEA competition to identify and encourage Sri Lankan organizations and it was held for the 14th consecutive year in 2017.
