Dambulla beat Colombo, Galle beat Kandy on first innings
SLC U-23 WOMEN’S SUPER PROVINCIAL TOURNAMENT
The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Under-23 Women’s Super-Provincial Tournament 2018 aimed at further fine tuning young domestic talent to meet international requirements, took off yesterday.
The fixtures covering two innings in a day’s duration yielded results on the first innings. In the first match, Dambulla registered a first innings win against Colombo while Galle too chalked up a first innings win against Kandy.
At the Aarons grounds in Horana, Colombo batting first were all out for 81. Dambulla replied with 102 for 5 when stumps were drawn.
When Colombo batted Jinanjali Wijenayake was spot on with the ball for Dambulla running through the opposition batting finishing with superb figures of 5 wickets for 13. She found good support from Poornima Sewwandi who claimed 2 for 13.
Colombo had the consolation of seeing Hasini Perera impress with the bat scoring 41 accounting for half of the total.
Dambulla was piloted by a fine unbeaten 51 by Harshitha Madavi and Anjali Janitha who was unbeaten on 21. Sadani Thiwanka collected 3 for 40 for Colombo.
In the second game, Galle batting first posted a healthy 183 against Kandy at the Bandaragama Cricket Grounds. Sathya Sandeepani led the way with a polished knock of 60. Nilakshana Sandamini was equal to the task making 49. However, Malsha Shehani reaped a rich haul of 6 for 33 while Sayani Oshadi picked up 4 for 44.
Kandy totaled 112 with Malsha Shehani top scoring with 44 followed by Sayani Oshadi making 28. Kaveesha Dilhari claimed 3 for 26 and Sathya Sandeepani 2 for 14.
