Mega Lifesciences Ltd. on behalf of its flagship brand ‘Glow’ confirmed its commitment to ‘Making women beautiful from within’ when it organised a program for a group of 36 women who served as mothers to orphaned children at the SOS Children’s Village at Piliyandala recently to celebrate International Women’s Day.
The program was attended by the management team of Mega Lifesciences including Mega Lifesciences Country Manager Praveen Vishwakumaran and Glow Brand Manager Ruchira Welipitiya. Commencing with an address given by the Country Manager, who commented on the vital need of such women in society, he compared their service in parallel with those of the great Mother Theresa who served the under privileged in Calcutta, India. He stressed on the ripple effect the mothers of the SOS Children’s Village made in the lives of the innocent children in their care, inspiring them in turn to become great women in their life time.

He further added, “We at Mega Lifesciences embrace all mothers. It is a commitment to improve the lives of women and our way of contribution to the society we belong to and consider the children of SOS Children’s Village truly blessed for having such mothers.”
Addressing the mothers, Glow Brand Manager Ruchira stated, “Glow, in keeping with its theme, ‘Beauty from within’ salutes all you mothers and celebrates your achievements in moulding young minds and bodies. These achievements are in itself a beauty to behold and are truly inspiring, since they can inspire change in our society. As in many other areas, women are the driving force that creates better lives for families and communities.”

The program included the presence of Hair & Beauty specialist Sheila Fernando, who provided insight and tips on personal hygiene and beauty care and free consultation to the mothers. A musical duo providing entertainment and a sing-along session with the mothers added fun and relaxation to the morning’s program ending with refreshment and beverages.
Physical and psychosocial support
The SOS Children’s Village provides physical and psychosocial support to around 250 orphans and, vulnerable children from all over the country. The novel concept of this successful mission having nine outreach centres island-wide, is the provision of a family atmosphere to 10 children who are housed in a self contained home unit. A volunteer mother heads the family and provides parental guidance, acting as physical, emotional and spiritual springboards, which will enable them to live lives that are full, productive and positive.
