Alcohol and tobacco education reaches a new high as workshop commences
The regional parliamentarians and civil society representatives workshop on alcohol and tobacco control that commenced in Colombo on July 22 will conclude on Friday July 25.
The event is organised by the Alcohol and Drug Information Centre (ADIC) and IOGT International, with the support of the Sri Lankan Ministry of Health.
The event saw the participation of parliamentarians and civil society members from Sri Lanka and six other countries namely Thailand, Malaysia, Mongolia, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam
General Secretary Citizens Front, J. Sri Ranga expressed these views:
Even though the tobaccos and the other companies are advertising in the electronic media, today the social media, if everybody has the the mission to overcome, I don’t personally think it is a difficult task.
MP UPFA, Sudarshanie Fernadopulle shared these thoughts:
I think I am happy because our government is very committed towards……………………. And the government has strengthened the police force. They have established many units in the police. And as parliamentarians we can be role models… in our constituencies if you give them the message that we will not support activities we will be able to get the message across.
