Teachers and government must assist in raising healthy children – President Rajapaksa

The opening ceremony of the “Poshanayai Suva Jeevithaya”  programme was held under the auspices of President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Thirappane Mahanama College on July 24 morning. 

The main objective of this programme is to raise healthy and clever children. President Rajapaksa expressed his views at the event:

If we are raising a generation of children who are weak, I see this an injustice done to our nation. Some say that it is the responsibility of the parents to provide children nutritious meals. What we see now it not only the responsibility of the parent but we also believe that assistance must also be given by the teachers and the government to raise healthy children.

The Mahindodaya Technological Lab of the Thirappane Mahanam College in Anuradhapua was vested in the students by the president
