Two councilors of the NFF representing Uva Provincial Council crossed over to the UPFA and the UNP at the PC sessions held on 22nd May. Mr. Weerawansa’s party found a situation that it could no longer stay in the alliance as a result of the government luring members of NFF to join it.

According to political sources Mr. Wimal Weerawansa, who had been acting like a jester to deceive masses on behalf of the government, has realized his position in the UPFA government. He, who unconditionally washed dirty clothes of the government, stated at a media conference held yesterday (29th) that NFF would contest the Uva PC election on its own.

NFF members in Monaragala District who had hoped to get nominations from the UPFA for the Uva PC election have been disappointed and are highly disturbed say reports. It is revealed that the NFF had to go it alone at the Uva PC election due to the move of the government to lure its members to cross over.
