Against EPF plunder at SLTB
All Ceylon Transport Workers Union filed has filed a case in Court of Appeal protesting against the failure to bank nearly Rs.7680 million which is the collection of Employees Provident Fund (EPF) of Sri Lanka Transport Board employees.
The case CA (WRIT)/293/2014 filed yesterday (27th) has made the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance, Commissioner General of Labour, Secretary to the Ministry of transport, the Minister of Transport and Chairman of SLTB respondents.
The Secretary of the All Ceylon Transport Workers Union Sepala Atygala said despite requesting those who have been named as respondents to bank the funds, there has been no satisfactory response from them. He said not banking the funds is an injustice to the employees and as a responsible trade union they decided to file a case against the non action.
The case was filed by the chief legal officer of the Inter Company Employees Union Attorney at Law Janaka Bandara.
