Re-habilitated ex-combatants wed
106 LTTE ex-combatants, who were rehabilitated, entered married life today. The mass wedding ceremony of these 53 couples was held at the Pompemadu rehabilitation centre in Vavuniya.
Commissioner General for rehabilitation Brig. Sudantha Ranasinghe said that these 53 couples got married with the blessings of parliamentarians, foreign diplomats and foreign representatives at 7.30 this morning. Every couple was permitted to invite 10 guests. More than 1000 will be hosted for lunch prepared by the military.
Brig. Ranasinghe said that by this evening, these newly married couples will settle down in the “Peace Village”. Members of the defence sectors made a vital contribution in imparting them vocational training and also raising awareness about society. All these youth have the capability of directing their lives on right track.
