President unveils statue of R. I. T. Alles at DS Senanayake college
The first death anniversary of Sri Lankan educationalist, the founding Principal of D.S.Senanayake College, Chairman of Gateway school, late R.I.T.Alles falls today. President Mahinda Rajapaksa unveiled the statue of R.I.T.Alles at the D.S.Senanayake College premises, Friday (28) morning.
Alles when he created D.S. Senanayake College forty six years ago chose the theme ‘country before self’. He abided by this credo and diligently worked according to it, by fostering good habits and inspiring his students to follow them in later life. He taught us simplicity, humility, respectability and discipline. He served as the State Secretary for Ministry of Education from 1989 to 1993.
