Jobs for another 400 rehabilitated LTE cadres

Another 400 LTTE cadres who ditched terrorism and came in search of a new life, have received jobs.

These women cadres who were rehabilitated at the Weppamkulam centre and at the Punthottam Centre in Vavuniya embarked on a new journey yesterday. 300 female cadres who were rehabilitated at Weppamkulam and 100 at Punthottam received new jobs. These ex-combatants surrendered during the final stage of the humanitarian operation. 15 rehabilitation centres were established on behalf of 12 thousand LTTE cadres.

It has now been possible to close down seven rehabilitation centres. 500 earlier received jobs. 530 child soldiers were rehabilitated and entrusted to their parents. 2500 who were disabled in the conflict were also handed over to their parents. After successful rehabilitation, 400 former LTTE female cadres left to take up jobs at the Tri-Star Apparel Factory in Alawwa. They began their journey amidst the blessings of relatives and well-wishers.
