Samaposha Fuels Under 13 Schools’ Football
As part of its continuing effort to promote nutrition and fitness among school children, Ceylon Biscuits Ltd. (CBL) nutrition cereal brand Samaposha announced that it will once again sponsor the under 13 Girls and Boys Schools’ Football Tournament. The announcement was made recently, at a media briefing held at the Football Federation premises.
Samaposha’s sponsorship for the second consecutive year and at a cost of Rs. 3.5 million will see 430 boys’ schools and 106 girls’ schools island-wide, participate in the national tournament. This annual national event is organised by the Football Federation of Sri Lanka, where the 11-a-side teams compete at school level and then at district level. The finals will be held in Badulla this July and will see 20 boys’ schools and 16 girls’ schools compete.
CBL’s Group Director and Head of Marketing and Sales, Nandana Wickramage speaking on Samaposha’s involvement and support said, “Football is a high energy activity requiring a great level of fitness. We see a perfect fit in our brand and the sport”. Wickramage went on to explain that CBL was committed to supporting and promoting sports in Sri Lanka and as such, the sponsorship is very relevant.
Manufactured by Plenty Foods (Pvt) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ceylon Biscuits, Samaposha is made of locally procured soya bean, green gram, rice and corn which are its main ingredients. Over 10,000 farmers benefit directly from providing the grain to the company, through a farmer backward integration CSR project whereby CBL and Plenty Foods buys back all the produce.
