The Kandy District Table Tennis Association successfully concluded the Central Province Table Tennis Championship for the Prime Minister’s Challenge Trophy 2014 at the Jagath Rajapaksa International Table Tennis Stadium in Kandy during the weekend.
The tournament saw the participation of 110 teams from 15 girls’ schools and 14 boys’ schools playing in the A, B, C, D and E Divisions in the Under 10, 12, 15 and 18 age groups.

Several players were from less privileged schools in the Central Province, in spite of the heavy rain and floods which caused landslides in the region during this period. The presence of players from the ‘Lanka Kids’ project was seen as a testament to the dedication of the teachers, coaches, parents and players of the schools in the province.
Some leading schools kept away from the tournament for unspecified reasons.
