Guaranteed Prices to Boost Agricultural Economy
The government, concerned about the farmers has decided to further energize the farmers through provision of a guaranteed price for selected items.
Accordingly the guaranteed purchase price of paddy will be increased to Rs.50 per Kg commencing from the 2015 Maha Season. Depending on the variety, moisture contain and the quality, paddy will be graded. Also the government will implement stringent purchasing procedures to avoid corruption and misuse.
The guaranteed purchase price of potatoes too will be increased to Rs.80 per KG commencing from the next harvest.
The other measures of boosting agriculture economy will be the increase in the prices of tea leaves and rubber to the value of Rs.80 and Rs.350 per Kg. respectively.
The government will implement the guaranteed price scheme for tea leaves and rubber subject to a comprehensive evaluation of the industry within a short span of time. These prices will facilitate the stagnation of a suitable mechanism to introduce the proposed guaranteed purchase prices listed above.
