Sri Pada, Horton Plains and the Knuckles range are to be world heritage sites
Arrangements are underway to declare the Sri Pada forest reserve, Horton Plains and the Knuckles range as world heritage sites.
In 2007 it was proposed to declare these locations as world heritage sites due to the bio diversity and the natural habitat evident in these sites. A special research has also been conducted in those locations. The research teams have been of the view that these locations fulfill all requirements in order to declare those as world heritage sites due to their natural environment.
