Two traffic related deaths within 3 hs
Two individuals lost their lives yesterday (5) in two different traffic accidents within just three hours, Police told Ceylon Today Online.
A cyclist died after his cycle collided with a trishaw on Ja-Ela –Gampaha road yesterday at around 7.30p.m. The critically injured cyclist succumbed to his injuries after being admitted to Gampaha hospital. He was a 61 –year-old resident of Mahawita. The trishaw driver responsible for the accident has fled the scene abandoning his trishaw there, Police told Ceylon Today Online. Gamapaha Police are conducting further investigations to arrest the trishaw driver.
A motorcyclist and his passenger were both critically injured when his motor bicycle collided with a van on Jaffna- Kandy A 09 road. This accident occurred yesterday at 9.45p.m in Wellaragama area. The passenger was pronounced dead upon admission to Mihintale hospital. He was a 19-year-old resident of Galkulama. The motorcyclist has been transferred to Anuradhapura hospital for further treatments. The van driver responsible for this accident has fled the scene. Mihintale Police are conducting further investigations.
