8-month probe led to SC trooper's drug arrest
Authorities say a South Carolina Highway Patrol officer arrested last week is accused of buying cocaine.
Horry County police on Monday released more details about the arrest of 42-year-old Lance Cpl. Bobby Lee Spurgeon.Spurgeon was arrested Friday and charged with drug possession after police say he bought more than three grams of a white powder that tested positive for cocaine.Horry County police say they started investigating Spurgeon in December and put him under surveillance.Spurgeon was off-duty when he was arrested. He was released from jail Saturday, and it was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
