Sri Lanka participates in NATAS Travel Fair 2015 in Singapore

The Sri Lanka Embassy in Singapore, together with representatives from the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau participated in the National Association of Travel Agents Singapore (NATAS) Travel Fair 2015, held from 6 to 8 March in Singapore. NATAS is an industry-led organisation representing the travel industry in Singapore, which supports and spearheads education and training with a view to achieving travel excellence, by setting and regulating standards of professionalism and ethical conduct of its members.
NATAS Travel 2015 was jointly opened by Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia in Singapore Dr. Andri Hadi and NATAS President Devinder Ohri. Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Singapore Wishwanath Aponsu and Second Secretary Rekha Mallikarachchi also attended the opening ceremony of the fair. Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau Management Assistant Chaturani Weragoda headed a delegation from Sri Lanka to the fair comprising representatives of leading Sri Lankan travel and tour operators.


The Sri Lanka High Commission in Singapore, in coordination with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and representatives of the travel agencies set up a stall at the NATAS Travel Fair, featuring attractive aspects of Sri Lanka tourism. Ceylon Tea and sweets were served to visitors to the Sri Lanka stall throughout the fair. The participants also agreed to assist the Acting High Commissioner to organise a cultural show with a Sri Lanka dance troupe on 12 April, in Singapore, under a 50-50 Exchange Program. Initial discussions were also held to form an e Committee, linking the Sri Lanka High Commission in Singapore, Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and travel agencies with a view to promoting Sri Lanka tourism in Singapore.
NATAS conducted formal networking sessions where travel agents were given the opportunity to meet new business partners visiting from overseas. The NATAS Travel Fair 2015 made a good platform for promoting of Sri Lanka tourism among the participants from various countries.
