Odel welcomes summer with rhapsodic tribute to ‘Flower Power’ era

As Sri Lanka’s fashionistas switch their allegiance to the trends of the new summer season, Odel, the country’s leading fashion retailer, is paying tribute to the era of Flower Power with its latest fashion-forward theme change across the iconic store network.
‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ – the evocative theme chosen by Odel for summer 2015 is inspired by the boho, chic leitmotif of the Mara Hoffman Resort Swim 2015 Collection that sees life in glorious Technicolor.

Characterised by vibrant colours, geometric prints, bead curtains, patchwork quilts, space mazes and retro slogans like ‘Rad!’, ‘Peace’ and ‘Enter at your own bliss’, the all-new clothing and accessories just in at Odel for the season include denim jeans, cowboy boots, headbands, crop tops, hippie gowns, heavy accessories, fierce footwear and slogan T-shirts that vividly recall the aeon of flower power.
The designs and motifs speak for a radical, aesthetic, carefree, nomadic lifestyle; passive resistant non- violence, and zest for life. They are influenced heavily by the summer music festivals illustrative of the ‘60s hippie power of artists such as Ravi Shankar, Santana, Janis Joplin, Joe Cocker and Jimi Hendrix who were also the fashion icons of the era.
“Odel has always anticipated the latest fashion trends, ensuring that customers in Sri Lanka have access to clothing, accessories and footwear that are in step with those on shelves in the fashion capitals of the world,” said Desiree Karunaratne, Group Marketing Director of Softlogic Holdings, under which company the Odel retail chain operates. “Our theme change for summer is yet another example of the passion which makes Odel the trend-defining fashion retail chain in the country, and the preferred shopping destination of the style-conscious.”
