Dambulla beat Kandy by 7 runs to set up final with Colombo

Dambulla beat Kandy by 7 runs to enter the final of the Sri Lanka Cricket Undder 19 Super Provincial 50-Over Provincial Tournament in the last fixture of the first round played at Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium yesterday. Dambulla will meet Colombo in the final tomorrow July 23 at the same venue.

Taking first lease of the wicket on winning the toss, Dambulla were all out for 223 runs in 49.5 overs. The first 7 wickets fell for 118 runs but No. 8 batsman Lakshan Gamage top scored with 55 inclusive of  2 fours and 3 sixes and Ashen Daniel made 30 figuring in a-84 run alliance for the 8th wicket.  Kandy’s Kavindu Nadeeshan took 3 wickets for 27 runs.

Kandy made a praiseworthy effort making 216 runs in 48.1 overs with Avishka Tharindu anchoring the innings with 64 off 54 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes. He posted 50 runs  for the sixth wicket with Kavindu Nadeeshan.

For Dambulla, Dilum Sudeera shone with 3 wickets for 26 runs and Ashen Daniel 3 for 56.

The third place play off will be between the losers in the first round with Kand taking on  Galle today Monday at the  Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium today).
