Daya Alwis passes away
Veteran actor Daya Alwis has passed away today (27) early in the morning. Alwis was 72 at the time of his demise.
He has been receiving treatment at Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital since he was met with an accident in Bokundara last week, reliable sources disclosed to Ceylon Today. The actor has been unconscious since the accident, sources said.
Alwis has starred in more than 40 Sinhala movies. He also starred in Deepa Mehta's renowned movie "Water" as well as in other international productions including "Madre Teresa" and "Les mystères de Sadjurah ."
He has been an actor, a script writer and also a Director covering Stage Drama, Cinema and Teledrama.
