19A will be presented in Parliament today
The 19th amendment to the constitution will be presented in Parliament today (27).
Protests were held in several areas of the country urging all members of the Parliament to give their support to pass the amendment. Youth groups and undergraduates attended the protest held in Kandy town which had been organized by the Citizens Collective.
Convener of the Association Chathurika Jayarajini said that the country will move towards dictatorship if the 19th amendment did not get passed in Parliament. A protest was staged in Godakawela town demanding the opposition’s support to pass the amendment in Parliament.
A large group of people was present at the protest which had been organized by Rakwana Youths Association. The group of protesters who walked from Godakawela town to Bibilegama Junction, conducted the protest by blocking the main road.
