Repair work on Jaffna Court building commences after Pungudutivu rape protest
Repair work on the Jaffna Court building, which was damaged during protests, when the suspects connected to the rape and murder of a school student from Pungudutivu were brought to court, commenced on Sunday May 24.
The court complex was damaged following the incident that took place last Wednesday.While measures have been taken to renovate the building, the 130 suspects who were arrested in connection to this incident are to be produced before court next week.
Meanwhile, at a function held on Sunday the Tamil National Alliance expressed views with regard to the incident that took place at the Jaffna court premises.
MP S. Shridharan says that all this has happened with a plan and added that they are” shocked by the tragedy that befell one of our sisters and wonder how this happened.”
