Fresh COVID-19 positive cases were identified in Sri Lanka as the total number of cases reported from the Minuwangoda and Peliyagoda clusters reached 12,425.
The UN Resident Coordinator in Sri Lanka, Ms Hanaa Singer has directed a letter to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, reiterating the concerns of the United Nations with the existing Ministry of Health guidelines, which stipulate cremation as the only method for the disposal of bodies suspected of COVID-19 infection.

Five more coronavirus related deaths have been reported in Sri Lanka today taking the total number of deaths to 53. The Government Information Department said that the five deaths included two victims from Colombo 13, one from Colombo 14 and one each from Ratmalana and Chilaw. The total number of coronavirus recoveries reported in the country crossed the 11,000 milestone today (13) as 378 individuals infected with Covid-19 were discharged from medical care upon returning to health.
