Government schools and Government-approved private schools have been closed till the 6th of June. The Education Ministry earlier said that schools will be closed tomorrow (Friday) owing to the fuel crisis. It was later decided to declare holidays under the first phase of the first term

Minister of Energy Kanchana Wijesekara has refuted the posts in circulation, which claimed that Members of Parliament are given fuel at subsidized rates.
Public sector employees, except those in essential services, are not required to report to work tomorrow due to the prevailing fuel crisis, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said in parliament today (May 19).
Sri Lankans have been asked to stay off petrol queues as no petrol will be distributed till the May 21/22 weekend.
