A youth was shot dead near the Balapitiya hospital this evening. The gunmen had reportedly arrived on a motorcycle and carried out the shooting. He was pronounced dead on admission to the Balapitiya hospital. The victim was said to be a 27-year-old resident of Galagoda. Investigations are underway. (Colombo Gazette)

The 28 individuals including Inter-University Students Federation (IUSF) members who were arrested during the protest march in Maradana yesterday (Aug 30), have been granted bail after being produced before the Maligakanda Magistrate s Court, says Ada Derana reporter.
