The Festival of Cricket (FOC), based in London, United Kingdom, is a cherished nonprofit community organization initiated in 1988 by Mr. G.C. Perera. It is set to continue its legacy under new leadership. The FOC Organizing Committee, composed of passionate individuals representing Old Boys Associations, recently elected its executive committee for the 2023-2024 term.
Taking the helm of this beloved event is Kasun Waduge from Thurstan College, who assumes the role of President. Umendra Tillekeratne, hailing from Mahanama College, will serve as the Secretary, and Nissanka Rodrigo, representing Josep Vaz, takes on the role of Treasurer.
The FOC has, for over three decades, symbolized the unity and camaraderie of Sri Lankan alumni in the UK, with Ananda, Royal, St. Thomas’, St. Peters, Trinity, and St. Anthony’s OBAs playing instrumental roles. This not-for-profit committee, elected annually, operates on a voluntary basis, ensuring the FOC’s success while simultaneously raising funds for various charitable initiatives.
With this new leadership in place, the Festival of Cricket is poised to thrive, celebrating its rich history and shaping a vibrant future for the Sri Lankan community in the UK.
