Dr. Sarath Gunapala, hailing from Sri Lanka, has been a Senior Research Scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory since 1992. Celebrated for his groundbreaking advancements in infrared techniques, Gunapala earned prestigious recognition with induction into the U.S. Space Technology Hall of Fame in 2001. With an illustrious academic journey encompassing Nalanda College, Colombo, and esteemed universities including the University of Colombo and the University of Pittsburgh, Gunapala’s contributions extend across space exploration and medical research domains. Notably, his recent satellite launch, employing infrared technology to analyze water vapor and plant health, underscores his commitment to pioneering innovation.
